Cheapest way to get to the USA

I would prefer land and sea to flying. Are there any companies that sail to the USA I don't want a cruise just the boat ride.Or are there any coach trips direct or indirect even from France.

How can I get a one off courier job just to get me there, yes I sound desperate because I am.;)

the cheapest way is to probably swim across, however you'll be dead by the time you get there....

flying is probably the next cheapest way, you can pick up flights for around £200, across to the east coast... i really doubt a boat / cruise will be much cheaper.

as for getting there by land, well, go to france, turn left, keep going until you hit russia, and then when you reach the other side of the world, the gap between there and alaska is really small...

seriously, flying is the cheapest and quickest way there...

I was looking at getting to the US on a freighter (as a passenger) but they were talking big bucks !!!!

I'm being nosey now, is it a fear of flying thats putting you off ?

p.s. what do you consider to be a cheap fare - and are you looking for a return ticket ?

i hate flying and am really nervous about our flight in september to orlando mco, but doctor gives me some tablets that are supposed to reduce this although you cant drink with them, i did not realise this and felt pretty giddy through our flight to spain last year. anyway try flightfinder.co.uk click on usa and it comes up with tons of options, i booked with expedia when they had there 3 day sale a week or so ago and got an amazing discount. flights to usa are pretty competitive it's just trawling through all the websites.

remember as well flights rarely get cheaper as time goes on, it gets more expensive.
