  • sorry to bump an old thread but was hoping someone could clarify the posts above.

if you have an 0800 number diverted to a bt landline and then again diverted to your mobile are you not being charged twice? once from bt to divert the call to the mobile, at a mobile call rate, and once again from the 0800 provider?

I am trying to establish if it would be cheaper to have the 0800 number go directley to mobile ???

    could someone please clarify this.

    kind regards

Yes you would normally pay for both legs of the call and the call divert feature.

And finally, you can only divert calls a mimited amount of times - depending on carrier, it can be as little as 2 or 3 'legs' before the divert is disallowed. The bad news is you don't find out until you call. One to watch out for!

0800 calls are soon to be made free by Ofcom so hopefully the cost of diverting 08 numbers to mobile should drop slightly.
  • Hi, I am looking for some advice on purchasing a free phone 0800 number that will forward to my mobile. I am setting up my own business and would like to give my customers to option to call a free phone number or call my mobile direct but to set this process up as cheaply as possible for me and my business. The previous threads sound perfect but are dated now, can anybody give me some current advice please? Many thanks in advance. Ps my mobile provider is orange and my landline provider is BT.

TalkTalk still do 1000mins landline to a mobile for £5PM.

The 0800 to landline has lots of deals around as mentioned. Divert then divert again should be no problem.

Don't expect much from BT and you won't be let down.

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums and came across the above thread when searching for the best way to divert an 0800 number to a UK mobile.
Like others above, I am setting up a new business and currently searching for the most cost effective option.

I have looked at the sites mentioned above however does anyone have up to date recommendations for this topic in 2014?

Any guidance would be most appreciated!

    Many thanks in advance

great for firms to offer a 0800 but remember
for another year many calling you on your 0800 from their mobile will pay big charges ( as well as you picking up the tab your end)

I know current charges from mobiles aren't great but for various reasons I need to go with an 0800 number I'm afraid.

There seem to be several charges associated with diverting a regular landline from BT (they just quoted £3.50 per month for the service, £7.50 per month for the anytime call package then 6p per minute on top of that for all diverted calls coming through to the mobile)

Does anyone know if any of the 0800 providers are offering any good deals to divert straight to a mobile through them?
