The prat thats been reading the metre since 2004 has been reading the economy 7 and the normal numbers the wrong way round!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, instead of being behind 1600 quid, we are only in arrears 130ish!!

How many people in house?
If you do not heat rooms with electricity it is largely irrelevant what size/type house you have.
365 x 34 = 12,410kWh which is 3-4 times the average for houses that do not use electricity for heating/water.
12,410 units at, say, 7p = £868 which is approx in line with your £68 a month so it seems like you are not on Economy 7.
If you do use electricity for heating/water you should consider E7
I wanna know who is selling electricity @ 7p per KWh please ??0 -

Look at the date of that post!
In 2005 loads of firms(virtually everyone?) were selling for 7p or less.
I opted for the increased price on BG's fixed to 30 April 2010 and paid(and still pay) 7.157p. - those in the East Midlands on that tariff still pay 6.563p. If you look at the thread on that subject the concensus was that we were mad to pay such high prices!0 -
We pay £30 per month with a capped price plan with scottish power for a 2 bed mid terrace with 2 adults and a toddlerTotal 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

We got a real shock when we opened our bill this week to find that it's more or less tripled since we switched from British Gas in april.
Looking back over our previous statements, it looks like our usage has risen three times also. - from around 1200kwh to 3000kwh per quarter.
The thing is, nothing in our flat has changed in the last year. We got a new tumble drier in november last year, but it didnt make a huge difference - and the bills didnt change that much.
Is it possible our meter is broken?

More likely a mis-read. Either misread your meter or read a neighbours meter - hapens quite a lot in flats.
Have you checked the readings on the meter against the readings on the bill? Were previous or current readings an estimate?
It is almost impossible to use 3,000 kWh a quarter in a flat(I assume you don't have electric heating)0 -
We checked the readings against the meter - it seems genuine. We phoned in the reading when we switched, and it shows that we have used 6000 units since april!0

I pay £53 per month DD for electricty and have LPG central heating. I think this price is far too high, my kids do leave lights, computers and tellys on this maybe the reason. Does anyone know where I can find a "hourly pricing for appliances" or do I just take the plugs off some of the appliances :rotfl:0
