If you havent managed to get a free o2 online sim card in there recent promotions, i have discovered you can buy them from o2 for the princely sum of 99p each, including p&p.

Visit http://shop.o2.co.uk/student

Click on the link on the left hand side marked SIM only. This will take you to a second page where the payg sims are just 99p.

As well as the usual 300 text message,or the100 anyone anytime minutes offers. You get the following.
Free photocard.Free Java Game.Free Ringtone.

They are often to free as well.I am merely trying to help people save money, who might have been tempted to pay £9.99p the price o2 want if you buy direct from the main page on there site.

Can i ask.. if i buy one of these do i have to start using it straightaway..or can i hold on to it for a few months. I have the contract from hell with Orange and im stuck with it till Nov. I want to change to payg and especially with 02 as all of my family are on this and i believe calls between 02 users are cheaper.

    That's where the confusion starts.

The t&c in the leaflet you get with it state you have to top-up at least once every 3months to remain connected but their t&c on their website for o2 Online, it states 6months.

Personally, I'd say 6months because if they do disable the sim after 3months then you can complain and say that their most upto date t&c on their website state 6months.

I think all the other networks allow 6months but probably because o2 Online offer free text/mins, etc that no other network does then that could be why it states 3months with the leaflet you get with it.

Either way, the minimum amount of time would be 3months but you could get away with it within 6months from purchase.

If you're not in a hurry then I'd wait until the next batch are done for free which is every few months. Keep checking this forum for when they do this.
