Hi Could anyone advise me about tranferring my previous years ISA >10000 from HSBC to Natwest e-ISA which seems to be offering better rate of 3.51%. My concern is that i have only banked with HSBC for last 5 yrs and i am not sure if moving all this savings away from HSBC now will lessen my chances of getting a better mortgage deal with them..ps i am hoping to buy a house within a yr..thanks in advance

Just a general comment (not based on fact)... but I hardly think this would be fair on the part of HSBC if they would penalise you in this way?! People should be free to put their (ISA) funds wherever they like. HOWEVER, if your money was in some kind pre-mortgage savings scheme whereby you might get a higher than avg interest rate (perhaps for a fixed term) with a clause stating that you must take out a mortgage at the end of it - then yes, they could penalise you. But if there is anything like this it should be stated in HSBCs T&Cs? Just a thought.
  • I want to transfer my fixed rate cash isa that matures in May. However in the notification letter from the provider it says the funds are not avialable for transfer. Can they do that?

Who is the current ISA with?

I imagine the funds wont be available for transfer until it matures.
  • hi everyone. Can I just ask if someone can confirm something. Is it possible for me to transfer previous years ISAs into a better account but not subscribe to this year's cash ISA with the same account? I'd like to open a regular saver this year but it won't allow me to transfer in. But I'm getting an appalling rate on my current CASH ISAand would like to move the balance to a better paying fixed rate for the next year. Cheers

Yes, I am doing the same thing. Consolidating existing ISAs in one account then opening up a Regular Saver one for this year.

Read through this post, updated yesterday, scroll down for those ISAs that accept transfers and take your pick.
  • Hi all,

Bit confused on this one ISA a year thing. Sort of.
I have an ISA from previous years. I have also put in some cash for this current tax year (Ie. since 6th April 2009) but now find I could get a better deal - I was going to go with First Direct.

Is this permissable to open a new ISA and transfer in? I know I cannot save any additional funds in this tax year.

    Thanks,
    David.

    Hi,

    I am confused.

Recently i applied to transfer my Icesave ISA to a Natwest ISA which was a week or two before the deadline and now have received a letter back stating that i have now missed the 2008/09 deadline.

Although i sent it in good time i thought the deadline for Icesave transfers had been extended??
