The old ISA's have interested accumulated on them, so is the current total value transferred or only the original ISA cash investment?

    Everything is transferred.

Cash ISAs would be of little use if you could only transfer the original capital. ;)

Does any one know why Martin does not have the Abbey National direct isa at 6.3% guaranteed for 13 months on his best buys list? I have looked at it and can not find any thing wrong with it, ie easy access etc, £1 to open, transfers in etc. Whats the catch....... does any one know????
  • I wonder if anyone could help please.

    I have £34k in a Nationwide isa.

I want to use my £3600 allowance for this year, but if I add it to my existing ISA it will top the £35k compensatory limit that we should all be trying to stay under.

I could start afresh with a new provider but even then the £35k limit will be breached with this years interest on the existing nationwide isa and sooner or later this is going to be a problem for a lot of isa holders anyway.

Can you do a partial transfer (ie I want to split the £34k in two), and if it is allowed does anyone know of a provider who will allow this please.

    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks

Yes partial transfers of previous years' ISA funds are permitted, but current year funds must be transferred whole. Icesave and Alliance & Leicester certainly accept partial transfers, having used them for similar reasons earlier this year.

I opened an A&L ISA 3 weeks ago & immediately sent them transfer forms for the ISA I have had with 1st Direct for far too long now; I've not heard anything & the money is still with 1st Direct - can anyone advise how long I should expect this to take?

A & L indicate up to 30 days HERE but transfers can take longer, especially as it's a busy time of the tax year - the 'losing' provider (First Direct in your case) has 30 days (from receipt of the transfer form from A & L) in which to complete the transfer of your funds to A & L.

Hi, after reading through the threads, I am not sure which ISA account to use as people having had delay issues. I have last years allowance in barclays and the year before with abbey....which account do people recommend I consolidate my two separate ISAs? Also, should I start adding this years allowance to this potential ISA account?

    Cheers, Nick.

Twenty days at a busy time of year isn't too unexpected. Not great but give it a couple of weeks more.
