Good luck to anyone trying to get a transfer to Santander before the deadline, I'm on day 24 of my transfer and getting mightily fed up!

You've said on another thread that you're having trouble with a transfer from Nationwide to Santander, but that Santander have promised to honour the original date of the transfer request.

Annoying that it hasn't gone through, yes, but what deadline are you referring to?

I don't know if this is what choccyface2006 is referring to but Santander will backdate the deposit to the same date the account with the previous provider was closed. So you shouldn't have a period during the transfer process where you get no interest at all. (This isn't quite as generous as some other providers, e.g. Halifax and Nationwide, who pay interest from the date the transfer request is received, thus earning interest for a short period at both your old and new providers.)

If the old ISA is still open then I think choccyface2006 should chase up Santander.
    Wearing my other one today.

Natwest also does this for their "shady" transfer ISAs they offered till 29/2/12.My OH gave the transfer request on 27/2/12, her previous ISA was closed on 3/3/12 and no sign of any account opening from Natwest till now. They have sent an email that its taking longer than expected and would backdate the interest to the date of closing of previous ISA or 15 days after the transfer request, whichever is earlier.
But its immaterial, as they give only a paltry 0.5% till 4/4/12 when the 4.2% kicks in for next 35 months:mad:

Also, to people who applied online for a santander isa, do you know if you're able to return the isa transfer forms to a branch or do they have to be sent to the address on the form?

No, afraid not. You have to fill in the transfer form and take it to the new provider who will initiate the transfer for you - just like the website says.

Yes, they should have a copy of the form in branch and be able to do it for you there.

    Hi all,

I have money from previous tax years in a Halifax ISA which 'expires' in a few days. I am yet to use my allowance for this new tax year - I'm thinking of opening the 1 year fixed 3.5% Santander ISA - will be I be able to both open the account with the ISA limit amount, and then transfer my Halifax ISA into the same account on top? Or does this account only allow one single payment in?

    Thanks.
