I also decided to transfer from lloydsTSB to a Nationwide ISA. First I had to open a flex account to get an account number although I didnt put any money in it. A few days later armed with the account number I filled in the transfer form from the local NW office. I would think no more than 10 days later the transfer was completed and the interest backdated to the date I had put on the transfer form. I now have to transfer this years allowance from my bank to the flex account (or make payments at the branch into the flex account) then move the money from the flex account into the ISA. It all went very smoothly!!

Same experience here. Although I was an existing flex account customer. The transfer has been straightforward from Newcastle BS, interest backdated, all in less than 10 days. Probably the most efficient transfer I ever experienced!

The last 2 or 3 emails seem to be praising the transfer of ISA's which if it continues will make this site redundant !!:T
  • Seems Santander transferred without a hitch. Pleased.

Banks certainly seem to have got their act together. My last transfer was from First Direct to Nationwide and it went really quickly. In previous years they have taken weeks upon end.
  • re 16th May, nationwide rang back following his 30 mile trek to the local branch, full of apologies. They were sorry his application had been misplaced and not actioned, they would deal with it that day and interest would be backdated etc.
Nothing has happened so he rang them today and has just had a rerun of the 16th May scenario. He is currently typing a letter of complaint which he has to hand deliver to the local branch, (an other 30 mile round trip). Luckily the young woman there remembers him.
Has anyone else had this problem with Nationwide.
Next stop the ombudsman I think:(

So, why, rowena, is he applying for an account (a) in person rather than online; and (b) with a financial institution whose nearest branch is 15 miles away!

Perhaps you are making your life more difficult than it needs to be?

There's also no reason why you cannot post a letter of complaint.

I have just opened a new ISA and transferred my last year's ISA into it.
Does the interest on the old ISA count towards this year's total allowance?
    thanks

No, the interest isn't included in your allowance.

    Hi
I have tried to find the answer to 2 questions but am still unclear.I would be grateful for some help.
If money was paid in to a cash ISA on April 4 2011 which tax year was/is it?
If you have paid in to a cash ISA then transfer the ISA within the same tax year can you pay in to the 'new' ISA as the other one no longer exists?? or would it count as paying in to two separate ISAs in the same year which I do realize you cant do.
    Thank you
    Sarah

    2010-2011. 2011-2012 started on 06/04/2011.
