My experience so far,
Have a fixed rate ISA with Julian hodge Bank maturing in a couple of weeks, also sent off a form to transfer an old ISA with RBS to them as well. Posted on Wednesday evening had a letter today stating that they had received my form and had informed RBS to transfer the money, if they have no repley within 10 days they will contact then again to ensure the transfer is carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This is the first time I have transferred and have had any conformation of what is happening and the timetable. So the experience so far is excellent.
Update,
All completed within two weeks."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

And if it's an external transfer, it'll take more like 3 months
. Personally, after previous experiences with them, I'd never go near them again.
I have noted you are a big fan of Santander so maybe I should a share this little experience I have just had with them. A couple of weeks ago we received two to pin number for a debit card. I guessed they was because we was being transfered from Alliance and Leicester to Santander and would receive the debit cards shortly. The debit cards never did show up so I rang Santanda to inform of this only to be told my existing cards had a big security problem and I needed to go to the Santander Bank to sort it out. I have to admit the man in the bank was on the ball and noticed my birth date had been replaced with my wifes birthday and her birthday was also wrong making her one month younger than she actually was. He sorted it all out and ordered new debit cards. So I guess somebody was careless transfering our data to the Santander System0 -
I transferrd my isa to A&L in April 2010 from another bank. The isa is called Direct ISA issue 6. When I tried to transfer in my 2010/11 allowance of £5100 it was returned to my checking a/c without explanation. I tried again and the same thing has happened. Has anyone else had this problem?0

When you transfered from your previous provider to Alliance and Leicester, can we presume you had not made any payments into your previous account this tax year.0 -
I currently have a ISA with First Direct. The rate drops from 3% to 2% on 7th November. I am already thinking of where to transfer the ISA after the drop. Is it too soon to start thinking of transferring now? I was thinking of taking out the 2.75% Santander ISA, if I did this can I give them a date to transfer my current First Direct ISA or will they simply transfer within the 30 day notice?Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0

My past experience of Santander is that if you give them a forward date, they ignore it and process it immediately. This also happened with my partner's ISA transfer, so it wasn't just a fluke with mine. They advised me that they don't have the facility to diary a request like this . If they're not capable of doing something as basic as this, it explains why everything else they do is c**p. Save yourself the hassle, and find somewhere else for it instead.0 -

The differnce between 2% and the 2.75% is negligible for a few days. Take out the 2.75% Santanter ISA and then instigate the transfer on the 7th November.0 -

Some advice please, I have an ISA in my name with M&S thinking about moving it to Principality just wondered if it would cause problems if I wanted to open the new ISA in both our names not just mine.
I moved my money to M&S from Nationwide when they offered a better rate and that a/c was in my name. Just think if it was possible to have a joint a/c then may be better for hubby when I pop off (not that it will be soon but you never know, especially with how I feel today!).0 -
Sorry Nels,
Its and Individual Savings Account so can only be in one name.
