Try ringing Barclays on their freephone customer relations number, 0800 282 390, and make a complaint.

Yes, Barclays have an obligation to process the transfer within 30 days from when they get everything they need to process it. Sometimes the other bank tell porkies about when they requested the funds.

Rather than simply relying on the other bank chasing Barclays, there is nothing to stop you doing so yourself ... then you might find that they haven't received a request, for example.

rang barclays = they say they wrote back a month ago to say they needed the original sig on the form. Rang lloyds, they say they had a denial from barclays as they'd given the wrong address to HMRC (not sure who "they" were now. So request gone back to barclays a few days ago.

they have said they will sort the interest once its all gone through, should think so, has been 3.6k at 0.5% interest rather than 6.5% for at least 2 and probably 3 months now (and i'll let them have a month for the transfer to happen of course)

HMRC have nothing to do with it, so that's a load of Jackanory.

If Barclays had requested something a month ago, they should have chased it two weeks later. Simply leaving it a month and doing nothing is unacceptable on their part.

Yes, you can in general transfer your ISA whenever you like.

The only restriction would be from the provider that you are transferring in to - some ISAs say that they are for new money only.

There are still plenty of competitive ones that you can transfer in to, though.

You'd just need to check the T&Cs of the account you want to transfer in to. If they allow transfers in, then that's fine.

I'm still waiting for a Smile to First Direct transfer and I can't get any information from either bank about how the process is going.

This is the first time I have ever done a transfer and given the time it is taking and the loss of interest, I'm starting to wonder if it is worth it. Do some people go through this palaver every year?

I appreciate that an ISA transfer is a more complex process than a simple BACS transfer, but I don't see what it can't all be sorted out within a week or so.
