Help - I want to dump my N73 contract

Need advice.
I'm currently at the end of my contract with orange paying £35 per month and using nowhere near the no. of texts / minutes in my plan. Having gone through the forums, I see I would have to pay £20 to unlock my phone (is this right?), which would allow me to go PAYG, but I'm not even sure which tariff to go to on that!
The other alternative is getting a new phone on a smaller contract & letting my N73 fester in a drawer somewhere!
I do not use a lot of minutes, not a lot of texts, but I do ideally want 3g, a decent camera, and if possible, free or cheap browsing. Am I asking too much?
Appreciate any help.

  • After one year your provider will release the subsidy code for the phone free or for a token cost I suspect. Once unlocked, you can choose to take a PAYG service, or try Virgin mobile at £10 per month for current subscribers.

Even if you dont use 300 mins and texts, it may suit as its so cheap. I use the mobile call allowance for cheap international calls using a yourcall account.

Anybody know if an Orange PAYG sim will work without "unlocking" the phone.

You can use an orange PAYG sim no problems. you might also want to check out Orange's sim only contracts if you're happy with the handset, this will be cheaper for you. (with no tie in, so if it doesn't suit, you can end it and go on a normal contract)
    On the up :D
