Hi all

and firstly thankyou to the member who recommended this to me a very big THANKYOU:Asorry but I can't remember who it was...

today I rang the careline number

0800 622 838

and spoke to a very nice man who sorted everything out for me...

as I am disabled and only get £702 a month I qualified for the care tariff this give's me 20% off each unit I use...on gas and electric...

also I get some free energy lightbulbs
a free carbon monoxide alarm that you put on the wall looks abit like a smoke alarm
also I can have a new fridge for free or pay £50 for a fridge/freezer...if mine is packing up

and also I'd qualify for loft insulation if I needed it...

not bad when you think of all the other companies who do nothing for there customers...

all you need to be is disabled getting DLA/ or any of these benefits incap benefit/ income support/ housing benefit/ council tax benefit...
on a low income
or 60 or over...

thankyou southern electric you are a star company

I also joined these through there other company Ebico...:D

    Hey!! :)

I was wondering whether my mum would be eligible for this tariff??

My mum is 57 years old and is currently receiving Bereavement Benefit £87.30 per week and she has just been awarded Income Support (Just waiting on the confirmation letter from the benefits agency, they confirmed she has been awarded it over the phone)

At the moment she is paying Scottish Hydro Electric £30 per month for Gas and £30 per month for Electricity and I have just arranged for her to be switched to the Price Fix 2008 tariff....

I was going to phone them tomorrow but was wondering what other MSE thoughts are?

Details of this package can be found here

    "Who is eligible?

You may qualify for energyplus Care if you spend over 10% of your total household income on your energy bills. We will assess your eligibility using a simple questionnaire which we will complete either over the phone or in person. The key questionnaire categories are based on:
    - Your home and how energy efficient it is
    - Your annual fuel costs
    - Your total household income
    - Other special needs"

yes thanks for that so it sounds like anyone who ticks all or most of the boxes can get it...that's very interesting...thanks again

I told them how much I got a month this does not include DLA as they don't count that...and he said I spend 15% of that on my bills...so I qaulified...:D

Varies, Ice, I am over 70, on much less income that yourself, tho with savings.
AND because I have efficient insulation already in place , thus less than 10% spent on fuel, not eligible.
But then the benefit is aimed at people who need heat on more often, so good for you.

Just helped my mum and dad apply for this. Their systems are down so they are sending out a paper questionnaire in the next few days. The lady on the phone said they'd only qualify if they spent 20% of their income on electric and gas but the link provided by jhp suggests its 10% (which they do spend).

My mum qualified for the energyplus care tariff today.

The advisor at Scottish Hydro Electric was brilliant, took the time to go through everything over the phone and will be sending information in the post.

Mum qualified as she is receiving income support at the moment.

they didn't ask me about saving's not that I have any...just asked how much I got per week...also I do suffer from arthritus so some days I need it on alot other days I don't...I spend at the present £110 a month on DD's for dual fuel but that should go down in june to £90 as I got alittle under quoted on the DD's and wasn't paying enough so it's gone up so I can pay that bit extra off to pay off the debt that I have of £150 on dual fuel then it should go down abit but to be honest I don't mind ...if I get in credit then fine they'll credit me some money back but I don't want to get behind again....:D
