Hi
My 3 contract runs out next week (I have given notice) and think for what I spend per month I will give PAYG a try before commiting to another contract - unless of course a miracle happens and 3 phones with an amazing not to be missed deal!
I have checked out PAYG and am down to deciding between 3 and Virgin, so just wondering which provider others prefer and why?
Grateful for any advice - thanks.

Hi
Usage - hardly anything some months. Usually around 30 mins and 20/30 texts per month. One month I had only used 4 texts and 5 mins! :rolleyes:Northernlights0 -

Your best bet might just be the Talk Mobile offer from Carphone Warehouse, which gives you 50 texts plus 50 mins of calls per month for £6. It also uses the Vodafone network, so that your coverage would improve dramatically.
This is a SIM only offer, so check that your 3 Handset can be used on other networks (once unlocked).

I don't agree that your coverage would improve dramatically! Don't forget when you are outside 3's coverage then you will roam onto Orange. I know quite a few places where that combination will beat Vodafone's coverage!0 -

Come to Cheshire and try! The GSM900 frequency (used by Vodafone and O2) knocks spots off the GSM1800 frequency (used by Orange and T-Mobile.) I know there are exceptions, but there are whole towns around here where you struggle to get an Orange or T-Mobile signal.RIP independent MSE.

I was under the impression 3 piggybacked on O2 rather than Orange? I've never had a problem with 3 coverage, yet where I live Orange has hardly any coverage at all.Northernlights0

3's original roaming partner was indeed O2 but the contract was re-awarded to Orange some time ago. I haven't checked recently but a few months ago I was still able to roam onto O2 as well as Orange as there was an overlap period for existing customers.0
