Check with you Credit Card company nonetheless - VISA for example does do some kind of travel insurance if you eg. rent a car using ur credit card. I'm not sure of all the details and conditions but I have seen this been done by close family.0

So sorry to hear about your loss and I do understand, when you have little ones and a lot on your mind, just how easily these things can happen. For anyone not 'into kiddies', it's very easy to take your eye off them and possessions at times - it's called having accidents, just as we all have!
I do hope one of the staff at the hotel are able to find it for you, both for the financial point of view as well as the sentimentality of the photos/music reasons. Good luck.
