Well, we MSE'ers got it right last time.
So what's it to be this time? The next MPC decicion is this Thursday, Feb 7th
Remember to vote for what you think the MPC will do, not what they should do.
Current base rate: 5.5%
Last decision: HOLD (Jan 08)
CPI: 2.1%

I'm going for a somewhat shocking hold this month.0
-
I voted that they'd cut by 0.25 (not that they should)
They want to keep the party going dont they?
IMHO base rate should be 7% but then what do I know0 -
I voted for a hold. I think they need more time to stand around with pencils up their 4rses until they work out what the heck's going on.0

I went for a cheeky hold. Though a 25bp cut wouldn't surprise me.
It's made more difficult because we're guessing what nine individuals would do. Blanchflower obviously wants a cut, in fact reading his piece in the Grauniad last week, I'm not sure why he's on the panel at all. Or at least he needs to read his remit more carefully.
How many who voted for a cut in 2005 are still on the panel?"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.0 -

Is Bruno on the MPC?
I voted for 25bps off FWIW.0 -
I went for hold. I don't know or care , I just want to be in with the in crowd0

0.25% reduction for me too. I think they ought to hold, but they won't.0
-
I just voted down 0.25 but that could be wishful thinking as we are just about buy our first house (tracker mortgage!)0
-
I think it will be a drop of .25%, I've heard (usually intelligent) people talking about .5 or .75% drops, but I can't see it.0
-
i think they will drop by 0.25%
but they should IMO hold0
