Half price 3 contracts, forever!

As many of you are on 3, I thought itr would be handy to share this information with you.
At the beginning of a three contract, you get 3 months half price, but then you have to wait for 6 months from the start of the contract to move down the tariff for cheaper options. This can be avoided by moving up to more expensive tariffs.
Ok so that doesn't seem to make sense, but there appears to be a glitch in 3s system, whereby when you change tariffs, you are returned to the 3 months half price. It has happened to me on a few occcasions, so I can confirm that this is a nice money saver. I started on 750mins, 17.50 a month half price. changed to 750mins/150txt, now 20 a month, but actual price is 40!
many peope don't seem to be aware of this neat trick for saving, so I encourage you all to use it and save a score a month.

Happy saving

given the quality of of the service they should really give these away...

I'm glad it's working for you - it's a good idea, and well marketed, but the actual service has been terrible for many users - it may just be early adopters, and the handsets that were available initially seemed to be some firms first ever go at making a phone - which lead to less than wonderful hardware issues, let alone the patchy nature of the service, and frequently misleading titles of downloads etc made it a nightmare for a lot of people. It may all be sorted now - every one i knew who signed up has now left them.

  • I believe it was the early adopters who had problems, mainly due to poor, bulky, unreliable handsets. All this has changed and 3 now offer some very good phones such as the LG 8130/38, Nokia 6630 and Nokia 6680. Their deals are just about unbeatable, customer service is excellent and they now sell more new contract phones than any other network.

How do you get half price line rental forever? After the 750 minute tariff you can upgrade to a £60 and then a £100 tariff. Still expensive at half price, and if they don't still give you the half price, you have to wait 6 months to down grade. That really will expensive!

surely at the most you can get 12 months half price line rental if you go through all the tariffs. not half price forever
  • i think he's saying that you just need to change tariff. You can keep changing tariff (by going up and down). Every time you change tariff, they put you back on half price for that particular plan. That's my take on it, anyway.

Do you think three's computer system is really so bad that it won't know if you have switched back and forth between the same tariffs over and over again? I have my doubts that it is possible to get endless half price rental

though I would love to be proved wrong

I have three mobile contracts, one is three and I'm soon to sign up to another.

All I can say is three are the best network I've ever come across and especially for customer service. I know they get alot of bad rap for their cs, but normally I find the indians some of the most helpful people imaginable.

As for the phones, it's a shame that most of these are abit bulky, however after using a couple of 3g phones over the last two years I simply wouldn't use anything else. Too used to the extra features and high res screens.

Compared to orange, checking my bill is alot easier with three, almost instant, with orange I have to wait a day before I'm able to discover how many minutes are left for the month.

I also like the fact that cs are available at 3am in the morning etc :)

I may just be lucky in that I've never had a problem with reception. I'm sure once I do have a problem I may have a slightly different opinion of them. :)

It wouldn't surprise me, to be honest. I had Three sending me 0.00 bills for a phone I cancelled over a year ago. They still send me bills even now.

It's also worth trialing unlimited content allowance for a month.

It costs nothing but you get 20 video minutes and 20 video messages.

On top of this they allow you to download almost anything £2 and below for free.
