Do you have proof of exactly how much care she needs? When she goes, do they have any comeback on me if they think I have "wasted" their mums money? Her children think I am wasting her money getting nurses in. They appreciate that she is a lot happier, and recognise that she would hate it in a nursing home, but they think I should select the cheapest care option available. Do they have any say.
Have these all been passing verbal comments to you?Could you write to them in response to their concerns with the following points? Her three children live about 5, 8 and 10 miles away, but they do not have time to visit.
You do not want to unsettle a lady with dementia with new and unfamiliar care package and are satisfied with the level of care provided.
Explain how you notice how much your aunt enjoys your overnight stays.
Would they like to take turns and offer the occasional overnight company to make an old lady happy and also to satisfy their concerns with keeping costs down, even though these are unfounded since she can easily afford the nurses fees.
Just some thoughts. I feel for you percybridge.0 -
It might also be an idea to keep a diary of your aunt's affairs, including the nights you stay over, nurses visits and logging the visits of her children when they occur. So that, in the end there is a record of what actually happened if there is any come-back from her heirs.0

But would that be worth the paper it was written on I wonder if the children got awkward? It might also be an idea to keep a diary of your aunt's affairs, including the nights you stay over, nurses visits and logging the visits of her children when they occur. I'm not even sure if what I suggested would be worth it either.

If matters ever get to something like a family court then things like diaries or records made at the time, are indeed taken into consideration. It goes to show the circumstances surrounding those concerned.0

sorry all, that wasn't supposed to happen.0

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
