  • Hey Bring me shoes ( and yes a fab name) I hope you are feeling better, its tough when its feels like your body is being all unpredictable and unhealthy feeling and then you head goes too! I have found myself in the ladies a few times thinking ok I can deal with one crap feeling at a time but not more then one!

it always helps to tell some one and until I do it I never remember. THe other thing I forget is things are never as bad as I think they are.

    keep talking and take care

    xx

  • i always feel guilty about feeling like this ( i swear you would think i'm a devot catholic with the guilt complex i have !) i only have small debt compared to a lot of people on here and i don't struggle to pay anything (except maybe my shoe habit :D) i know i've had a bit of a crap life(it's always been one thing after another) but then i feel guilty for feeling like this as people have had it worse than me so i shouldn't really complain and i've also never known any different

First off, I think your doctor is a kn0b. How dare he say you can't ever get better, of course you can.Okay the depression may never completely disappear, but it can be managed so it doesn't control you any more and you control it.
Finding the right combination of meds, counselling and personal therapy is bl00dy hard - but the right combination is there somewhere. It's a case of trial and error but when you get there, you'll feel a hundred times better.

I'm in my 20s too and have several health problems, including possible IBS, so I think I can empathise there. But I try to think of all the things I can do, and all the things I do take for granted and can be grateful for.

*hugs* and PM me if you ever want to talk

Are you getting any counselling or anything hun?

I'm not gonna pretend to know anything about depression but walking is meant to be good for it. Releasing chemicals into the brain and stuff.

Sorry if I'm trying to imply that going for a walk is all thats needed. I didn't mean it like that! :o

What I'm trying to say,and failing badly at it :rotfl: , well I'm not too sure. Oh b*gger. I told you I haven't got a clue what I'm on about.

You are entitled to and deserve professional help. If your Quack won't co-operate, go to another one. :)

You mean well SS, its cos your a man :D

Seriously though, go back to the GP and see another one, I know from my own experience all GPs are different and some are more clued up than others regarding depression, my sister saw three GPs until she found a super one.

You can come on here and rant all you want, its what the DFW community is all about.

  • oooo Bringmeshoes, you sound like me!

I was brought up in sort of Catholic family and guilt is a speciality for me!

Sometimes tho I just think you know what, sod it I will feel bad today. and another day I will be ok, its the hardest thing to "get" I think that people handle things very differently and as we go about out lives we don't have all the answers or things don't make sense. and the constant comparision to others that is only ends up with me feeling bad cos I don't feel better!

you feel what you feel you learn what you learn others feel differently and learn differently. I am sure if we could figure out how to share it all we have a lot less problems.

    take care hon

i don't know where i get the catholic guilt complex from as i was brought up protestant, then again i've always been the 'odd' one in the family :D
i know i need to go back to the docs i just dont want to be signed off work (wouldn't mind i can have up to 6mths on full pay!!)
i may sound like i'm a right miserable cow but i'm usually not, to be honest people are shocked when they find that i suffer with depression as i am the life and soul and the joker and people think i come across really confident when i'm the absolute opposite and always think people are judging me when they probably not

Oh heck! Sorry SS as it was me that referred to you as "She"!!!:o I can only think it's because you always sound do sympathetic on posts to people that I just assumed you were female! That's not to say that I think fellars aren't sympathetic, quite the contrary I know as my OH is so very sensitive and brilliant at all problems with girls or fellars.

Anyway, before the hole risks getting deeper and wider, I'll shut up! Apologies! Sue.

You do NOT sound like a right miserable cow at all, you have a problem and are sharing it with us, just as many of us are doing with ours to you on this very thread. Nothing wrong with that as it only does GOOD! I can definately believe you're often the life and soul of things, a joker too, but all of us with depression are capable of being the same, sometimes it's a 'front' and others it's the real 'us' being able to be let out! To think people are judging you is also quite natural as that too is all part of being depressed.

You may need to go back to the Dr, but PLEASE don't let her sign you off. As you've said before, it would only make the whole situation worse and you'd have far too much time to sit and think...and think...and....! If the Dr knows anything about depression at all, she should know perfectly well that that's a stupid thing to suggest. If you're in a Group Practice then try to see another by ringing on a day you know yours is off!

Don't forget that walk or exercise in the house, it'll really do you good.

    Good luck, Sue.
