Alison, let me explain it for you.
A person has a potential problem with an item yet knows nothing about consumer rights.Should they repair this or do I not have a leg to stand on without a receipt? Surley its not normal for a clasp to break after 3 months.
That person then gets a reply giving an idea of how long the item should reasonably last and what her rights are.
OP then goes to the shop with a rough idea of what to expect, and should the situation arise where the company say "No, sorry we are going to do nothing about this" the OP will know that there is something they can do, and under what laws they are obliged to do it.
If people didnt post here for advice before going to compain they could well be fobbed off.
My reasoning isnt strange at all, its common sense to know all the facts before you go in to complain, and whilst HSamuel hadn't refused to repair the bracelet at the time the OP posted she is still well within her rights to vent about something that broke after wearing only a couple of times.
 Understand now?0

I never had a problem understanding the OP, it was the board used that I questioned, but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before0

Alison, where would you suggest OP had posted on these forums about an item of jewellery, worn twice that broke?0

I'd want to vent about a bracelet that broke after a few wears too
Regardless about whether the shop repairs/replaces it it shouldn't really be breaking that soon0

The end result was that the OP was given a replacement.
Therefore there is no need to squabble...I declare it a draw as both points made are valid....at the end of the day suziedoc got what she wanted without having to spend anything, and that's what every board is here for.0
