    Assuming she is definately going to leave him, I certainly would advise seeing a solicitor about getting a restraining order. Do it ex-parte (ie. with him not there) if necessary. This means he will not be allowed to contact her, harass her or even be within 5m of her and will give her the room she needs to sort herself out a bit.

    Oh and this friend of hers is no friend. A real friend doesn't sleep with another's partner.
