For some reason I was called Bob at school & its stuck ever since with my family & friends. so as soon as someone calls me Casey in a letter or on the phone I know I've got the upper hand as they haven't a clue about me.0

Not that unusual, I've met quite a few people that think I'm having them on or look at me like I'm a satanist or something if the subject comes up about christenings or baptisms and I tell them I've had neither. And I know people sometimes specifically refer to Christenings when they talk about their Christian name. So there is that genuine meaning behind it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

OK use of first forename (and initials for any others is reasonably acceptable. What I was concerned about was my name being shown in FULL - i.e. all my forenames in full and surname.
Part of it may be I do not like total strangers using my forename but I'm still not convinced there's no real threat just as others are convinced there isn't - so for the time being I shall carry on bawling out the guilty parties.0 -

Me too. In fact our names are very similar.
So it was impossible to know sometimes who post was meant for.
Now people assume that when I married I took my husband's surname - wrong!!0 -
I dont have an issue with it really,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

If I didn't want people to use my forename, I simply wouldn't give it to them. The only people who really need it are the banks, and they always ask what name you want on the card and then send the statements in that name.
What does annoy me is when I am referred to by my OHs first name as in Mr and Mrs Joe Bloggs as though I am now just a satellite of his existence with his surname and no first name of my own!
However, one of my friends likes to decorate envelopes with her thoughts and ideas, and recently sent me a card with a list of funny things she remembered about our early friendship on the back of the envelope. I couldn't give a fig if my postie read it - I hope it made him laugh if he did - but he is the only one who would see it, and he can call me by my first name or any other name he likes so long as I get my post on time!0 -
serious qtn... what do u do with ur cards that have ur full name? and chequebooks with ur full name and savings books with ur full name??
do u stare at them 24/7 to avoid ID theft??
what about companies, ie, sky tv or cable that have ur full name... do u worry about those potential ID thefts?0 -

I didn't have a christening, either. So I have no idea about them. lol0 -

Well a bit different for me as my dad's side of the family are Catholic. So of all my cousins, 2nd cousins, aunts and uncles etc on my dad's side, my brother and I are the only ones not to be christened."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
