Ha that really did make me laugh!!
On courses that I run I teach people the wisdom of setting up at least 3 email address, which they find helpful. I will quote you next class if you don't mind, it will help them to understand where we are coming from.0 -

If you think it will help then I don't mind."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Never, ever reply to spam.
These spammers often generate email addresses at random. Sending a reply confirms that it is a real address. Then the spammer can sell the address to other spammers and you get even more spam.
I agree, I think the OP was very lucky they seemed to be replying to spam with completely fake return addresses. The OP could also have been sending the stop requests to legitimate email addresses and in a way be creating spam from the point of view of those addresses that had nothing to do with it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I have tried for years to get everyone to stop sending rubbish emails with my address in the 'to' box. I have emailed them all explaining about using the Bcc box which works with a couple of friends but then tails off. I really don't need to receive emails containing jokes on why its great to be a woman and not a man! Sheesh!
I recently received an email from a female friend (about the rapist in the back seat of the car in the filling station).
This had been forwarded about 6 times and had originated in a council department, feeling mischievous, I sent an email to everyone I could see, pointing out that I now had a load of email addresses.
I also pointed out it was a good idea to google a phrase from the latest "alert" to see if it was actually true.
I explained about using bcc, and that if I was of a certain nature I could easily cause a lot of hassle by using their addresses to join all sorts of sites of a dubious nature.
I was pretty fed up at the time and don't feel so good about doing it now, but perhaps some of the "herd" might take note.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

I think that was quite educational of you. At most I tend to reply to those kinds of things (also to everyone on the CC list) that what was forwarded was nonsense and I give links to the main urban myth sites. I hadn't thought about the privacy and bcc aspect though."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I do the same as you and send a link to whatever I've found on Google, but only to friends.
I'm sorry to say, but it seems to be women in offices who spread these urban myths, when a quick Google would kill the spam dead.
Obviously have time on their hands.
The thing that really annoyed me about the latest myth, was that it came with the council
departments signature at the bottom along with a council disclaimer.Move along, nothing to see.0
