  • I do go to Church, and I couldn't agree more. Just *giving up* something is pretty futile. And Nelski, yes as a smoker I did puff twice as hard on no smoking day:rotfl:

I'm the same - when ever someone tells me how "good" they're being in cutting foodstuffs from their diet, I have visions of chocolate dancing in my head  :rotfl:

DD said my crochet sample wasn't even big enough for a dolly  Kids, eh  I'll show her.

Pregnant Helen helped me to assemble my hideaway computer desk - she's better at getting down on her knees than I am ..................

Did anyone else read this the same way I did from post number 7??? :rotfl:

I will be giving up the vending machine at work. Packed full with crisps and chocolates - all at inflated prices. The fizzy drinks machine is included in this also. Good old H2O from now on.

Are you making yourself head coverings Sola ? ;)

No but I've got the 'getting up while it is still dark' pretty much sorted :)

I can't wear purple though, it clashes with red hair :rotfl:

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens . . .

Wow, this is turning into a very thoughtful, reflective thread. I'm now trying to think of something I can adopt alongside my 'giving up unecessary spending'.

Please can I put myself first in line for adoption by thriftlady  I'm sure I'd learn lots nore Lenten Skills :A

I've just decided tea is off the menu for me for the next 40 days, instead I shall have fruit and herbal teas, which I believe to be better for me. So I toast you all with a cup of green tea and raspberry

    Good luck everyone

OMG:eek: If my Helen ever read this board (and thread) she would flatten me for that one!!!! Her actual words were 'Come on Mother, out of the b*o*d* way - you're hopeless on your knees'.

It's no good now, got the giggles for the rest of the day :rotfl: :rotfl:
