Nokia 6288 on 3, black screen of death.

I've had my phone for 9 months, woke up this morning and the screen is completely blank. It turns off and on, I can make calls if I manually input numbers but I cant see a thing on the screen. I have spoken to the Indian call centre and they said they need me to provide proof of purchase at the shop I bought the phone from to get a repair. I am now up thingy creek without a paddle as I dont know where (if anywhere) the reciept is. Now, surely, if the phone is within it's 12 month warranty I should be entitled to a new phone as this one is obviously not fit for purpose, but what are the chances I will get one?

surely your first bill from 3 will prove when you got the phone ??

Oh, I bought it from the 3 shop itself in town. Have just called them and they have said that I have to take it in and dont need my receipt after all. They've also said they dont do lease phones, so I'm stuck without a mobile until God-Knows-when. Ah well.
