In the great scheme of things, how many people are really screwing the Boots points system? I mean, yes, I've put in 2 .com orders in the past couple of weeks and taken advantage (pardon the pun) of some great points offers, but only those that were there for the taking. All's fair, in love, war and keeping us shopping at Boots and not anywhere else. :D

Yes, I am concerned that there will be those who ruin any scheme by taking it too far. I think Boots might end up tightening up on how many products you can get points on in one transaction - but they would be shooting themselves in the foot if they scrapped the points system, or radically altered it, because, for all the success of this fantabulistic site (official MSE term of praise ;D ), there are many millions of Boots customers who just collect their points when they make their everyday purchases, often without the vouchers cos they have no points machine in their store.

    OK 'point' made ;D

However, having now collected lots of points ( I've spent lots of money with you too, Mr Boots :) ) I was most miffed to find out that you can't spend them online. My local store doesn't do tv's and that's what I want. Here's hoping they aren't taken off us before I can travel further afield. ;)
  • There are TVs at the Ilford store....lcd and dvd combi ones. ;)

I simply saw the accidental additional 10% off deal online and then saw the stacks of cucumber/fragrance free one day but not the next but was helpless to take 'advantage' as absolutely no permission to shop in boots until the xmas shopping eve! :'(
  • they better not stop their points scheme altogether or i will be either forced back to more expensive body shop or !!!!!! shops like morrisons and superdrug, and i dont want that, i *heart* going to boots and collecitng points.

i have only ever taken vouchers for legitmate items that i have wanted to buy, and i always now ensure i only use one token per one transaction per day, or if i want to use two tokens in one day i go to different branches so they cant throw a hissyfit.

there's no problem at all with using tokens in separate transactions on the same day in the same branch. none at all.

I'm not sure I understand you though. What's "!!!!!!" about morrisons/superdrug etc? For most products, boots ends up being more expensive unless they have offers on. The 4% points back don't really compensate in most cases.

I certainly won't pay more for the same product just to get it from a "less !!!!!!" (which I don't even really get anyway, i think superdrug etc are fine shops) shop. Even if boots give me 4% back, they are usually more than 4% more expensive - not really moneysaving to go there for everything in a quest to get loads of points.

I only buy stuff from boots if it's on a good offer or similar, unless it's genuinely cheaper (rare) than other shops.
    They call me Mr Pig!
  • I actually got 2 tokens one for 150 and 1 for 125. As i actually like this product, well the cucumber range actually. Not to keen on the blue one. I took advantage of this offer i purchased over 50 bottles of the cucumber range which was the eye-make-up remover, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, facial wash, 3 min mask and cleansing scrubs. I bought 10 products 5 times yesterday each time i handed in a 150 and 125 points token. In all i paid £50.50 for these products and got a total of £137 in points so boots paid me £87 to take away my products that i have been using for a while now. Do i feel guilty no way. As i don't feel that i have abused the system.

1- Because boots gave me the tokens out of the machine.
2-There is nothing on the vouchers stating that i can't buy this amount.
3-If boots choose to look at my advantage points card they will see that i have purchased this product many times before.
4- They had soaps at 60p which i do not use and i did not buy, just to take advantage of the money back.
5- Did i buy all the products, no i left some for somebody else.
6-Would i have bought the blue product if cucumber had not been available. NO

So i feel no guilty as people on this web site who have made money or purchased products when ofers have come about. Will i be selling my product on? Not on your nelly, i love this product. Will i buy some more of this. Yeah sure if they make the same mistake again. Only wish i had been lucky and had a 100 point token as well. Oh well never mind.
