Hi Guys
In need of a bit of advice tonight...........today i opened a letter sent to my ex DH. it wasn't a letter actually - it was a card saying important notice on it from the Bank of Scotland, saying their 'representative' will be calling at my home on 11/10/10 and giving a number to phone if this isn't convenient.
I rang the number but as it was out of hours it was just an answerphone saying when opening times were, however, saying 'thank you for calling retail bank collections'. It would seem he's left the country with a debt of some sort. !!!!!! do I do? I'm panicking that the 'representatives' are bayliffs coming to take stuff! I won't be there anyway - it's a work day - can they force entry? we had NO joint finances whatsoever. Just seems like he carried on using my address even when he'd left.
Reaasurance please guys - just til 9.00 am tomorrow when i can call them again!

Bailiffs cannot force entry without a court order and that is a long way away so no worries there. Phone in the morning, write recorded delivery to say he no longer lives there and ask them to confirm they will not be pursuing you for debt.

Made the call and they said they would remove the address from their records. I foolishly forgot to ask them to confirm that in writing (for some reason this episode really shook me! hopeless!) so i will write recorded asking tham to confirm what was said in the conversation as recommended by GG.
And today I had another letter from the Hali addressed to him - thanking him for changing his address to my address! What's going on???????
Another call tomorrow methinks.
Weekend. Thank Crunchie!

Bummer - glad it was ok with the phonecall. I guess maybe you were shaken up because you thought it was all finished with and then it rears its head again. Maybe if this continues you need to construct a template letter and just bang it out to various banks or whoever so it doesn't take up too much of your time/energy.
I don't know why but sometimes I've seen in the newspaper personals where someone puts in an ad saying so and so doesn't live at blah and is nothing to do with this address [don't know what function this serves] but it might be worth asking the CAB locally if something like that would help legally. Someone else may know what its purpose is and also I'm in Scotland so it may be a thing up here tho I did used to see them down sarf too. Hope that makes some sense
Have a good weekend and don't give him any power by stressing or worrying about it0 -
Morning all,
Next payment ready to go into ISA - should be a minimum of £500 this month which will be paid whichever day I manage to get into town on my lunch break. May be able to pay some more too as have some languishing in another account which is making diddly squat in interest. Will update sig when it's in.
Not a lot else to report - seem to have stopped getting letters again for XDH. I did email him to try to find out what was going on but no reply so I suspect that means he's doing nothing and therefore got nothing to show off about and doesn't want me to know. So probably still no decent job and having to live off other people's generosity. I pity his family - they will now be the mugs pandering to his whims.
Oooooooooooo - that all sounded a bit bitter didn't it?
I'm not at all. Just glad to be rid!
Life on planet poppy is ok. Enjoying having some spare cash and spending it. Getting out a bit more too which is good.
Have a good week everyone.
