  • Morning all

Have come back down to earth a bit and am now trying to concentrate on getting everything ready for the wedding. I have my outfit apart from shoes, OH has a suit, just needs shirt and tie, and we bought the rings yesterday - the shop gave us 37.5% discount as they didn't have exactly what we wanted so OH has platinum and I have white gold, but they look the same! (Always knew he was worth more than me!!!) Going to swallow hard and pay for the flowers tomorrow (good thing I have a new job or might have had to remortgage, however outfit was in the sale so I can justify it!!)

Anyway - I don't know what my salary will be yet, but I think it will be about 75% more than the current one net, so will re-evaluate mortgage when I know. Will need to repay savings which have been dipped into for the wedding first, but then full steam ahead to decimate the mortgage!:D

Have a nice day planned today - meeting up with the whole family (including twin sis) for lunch to celebrate our birthday (yesterday) but will celebrate the job too!

Then I guess the hard work starts tomorrow - I believe it's an immediate start!

Hope all is well on planet MFW - will try ot catch up on other people's diaries when everything calms down a bit here! In the meantime, lots of love, PO xx

  • Hi Poppyoscar
Well done you on your new job - many congratulations.

Wow over 75% pay rise, you are so lucky that your line of work allows this; in my company even if someone gets a promotion that would mean according to the salary scales they would get a huge payrise this isn't 'allowed' and has to be on a phased basis - typically they are not allowed to get more than a 10% payrise on promotion (15% in extenuating circumstances) then the rest is paid over the following 18 months and even then depends on peformance. When I was last promoted it would have meant a 29% pay rise for me but I was only given 10% and then the rest over 18 months, it was this that finally allowed me to get on the MFW track:D

Wishing you every success in your new role

I guess this I can get it because I was being paid on a TA pay scale and now I'll be going back onto a teacher pay scale - both nationally agreed and set in stone! Will be interested to see where I end up on it though because it's 10 yrs since I was a teacher in this country. I don't think they can move you down from where you go to though.
