Recieved all letters today
New router is on the way and we should be swapped by the 15th

We were supposed to be swapped now (well - the 15th was our date) but it got delayed cos BT can only apparently do one thing at once and we're getting the phone too.
However, our new router came today ^_^ We're in the process of having our central heating replaced though and my poor dog's in today to be castrated so it's not getting installed today!
Out of interest I've just done a speed test to see if we've swapped yet. Considering that we're paying for up to 8 meg I'm not happy at all!

I used to connect via Orange with a top speed of 700kbs, I'm now with O2 which has an ADSL2 modem and I get 3500kps, my house is no closer to the exchange, I just have a better system to connect to the llu, so as much depends on your ISP as to the distance, I guess.

Internet speed via ADSL is based on where you are from the main hub (distance) and how many you share the hub with at any one time (usually upto 30 people). The more using it at peak times with the same provider the less speed you get.
Cable is slighty different as it doesn't rely on distance from hub but it will still be dependant on how many others in your street/area share the same cable hub (via the same ISP).0 -
I'm on Sky and have had decent speeds. But it does depend on many many different factors.

I'm about 1 Km from the exchange on a fairly new line, so I'm quite happy with that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It's not especially fantastic but the transfer hasn't officially finished as yet. However:

Starting to much look better
For Telephone Number ************ on Exchange GRIMSBY
We've just tested your line and can confirm your line supports the UK's most complete broadband package, BT Total Broadband and we can confirm that you will be able to reach a maximum download speed of 6.5 (Megabits per second).
Download speeds are dependent on a number of factors such as the distance between your telephone exchange to your house or how many people are using broadband at the same time. BT Total Broadband will always give you the maximum download speed available to your line based on these factors.
Getting it's a whole other job entirely.0
