Why can't I see the smilie list on this computer?

When I used a friend's computer a week or so ago I noticed that when I typed a reply to a thread there were some options at the bottom of the page allowing me to select smilies and also showing how to create links etc. On my laptop I don't see these options. Is it my computer or has this site disallowed it now?
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

    'Go advanced' only takes you to your default editor. If you haven't changed over to enhanced in your options then it won't help you
