Every year I when switch on the cental heating i get cracks in my skimmed hall. I think it must dry it out a little.
I have also had minor subsidence problems and on the advise of a structural engineer I regret ever calling the insurance company.
Why do you regret calling the insurance company0 -
Being officialy the best plasterer on earth I can tell you for absolute certainty that your house is about to fall down.
Plaster never cracks unless the foundations were made out of quaker oats which is quite common these days.
McAlpine have tried many types of foundation including balancing a full housing block on four otters, all called Terry, this also failed when the otters got bored and went on a lads holiday to Magaluf
In other news it has been reported that a rather sensible chap off the intersocks said fill cracks with Gypsum joint filler (B&Q) cos its easy to use and is very flexible...........just like Nadia Comanech0 -

Does he EVER contribute anything worthwhile or is he just the Board's jester? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
"""chuckles"""" - what has happened to your sense of humour ? life would be the poorer were it not for good humour !

The reason I ask is that I am getting hair cracks around my doors, but they are extending across the ceilling, in a line from one end of the house to the other.
Maybe your house used to be the georgeous assisant of a magician that did the cut the lady in half trick?
Cracks are only a problem when they become really wide, even then 99% of the time its nowt to worry about.
Someone on here a year or so ago posted a piccy they took of their house that had a crack that yopu could have driven a ford cortina through without scratching the paint0
