Blackberry on payg?

Can you have a blackberry on payg? I am thinking of buying one off ebay - i need to use it in france but need an english keyboard so i can't buy it in france. I don't make hardly any calls but will check emails and receive calls (not very often for emailing - maybe a few times a week)
I would ideally buy one off ebay and have a payg sim - would that work?

i dont think you can use blackberry on payg(although i could be wrong) as you will need to have a special blackberry tariff to be able to use all functions on BB. You will also get charged a lot more in GPRS charges on payg

  • there's a way, it's not exactly PAYG but it has no contract either ( I did this a year ago, not sure if these prices/deals are still valid)

get a monthly SIM only deal from T-Mobile for around £7/month and add unlimited Instant Email for another £7.50/month and voila' you have BB with no contract, just 30 days notice to cancel.
Just be careful as roaming rates will apply at £7.50/Mb when you go to France.
  • Hi All - I've just bought an old unlocked BlackBerry 7290 on eBay for £25 and a contract free SIM from: http://www.contractfreeblackberry.co.uk. It's works fine and there's no 12-18 month contract. What a deal!!! :)

Hi digp - many apologies, as a newbie to this forum I didn't realise my post would be considered as spam. I was only trying to help and I have purchased a BlackBerry SIM from the website and am very happy with it.

    Once again, many apologies.

the best deal is with orange payg sim i range them and they said the blackberry bundle is £5 a month as i was only going to use phone for incomming and emails and net i think thats a bargin , they said fair usage is 500mb but something about bb compressing data down size times so 500mb equivelant to 3gb.

Be aware you CANNOT use an Orange PAYG blackberry abroad. The phone will work, but they don't allow the blackberry services while roaming if you're on pay as you go blackberry internet service.
