My OH was 40 yesterday, so I know all about buying for people who have everything!
His sister bought him a "Lairdship", basically a sq foot of land in Scotland which now entitles him to be called Laird of Glencairn! It was off a gift website. My sister bought him a magazine subscription.
Other options are DVD of her favourite film - Tesco have got a big DVD sale on now, a voucher for a beauty treatment or a really nice posh bottle of wine, one she'd never buy for herself. My standard present for people who have everything is a bottle of champagne. Works every time!0 -
Hi everyone I am having a 40th Party at my house next week (MY first party ever) there are about 25 people coming, been lazy and have arranged for a buffet from the local bakers - what I need to know is how much booze should I buy and what type I want to try and cater for everyone, but know that might not be possible, i know people will bring a bottle, but I want to make sure I dont run out of anything.
I have a budget of £125.00 - also are there any great deals on booze out there at the moment.
Thanks for any help0 -
Not sure how much booze you'd need exactly, but for wine deals try www.acaseofwine.com (and its sister site, www.acaseofbubbly.com) which has an overview of the current deals on the UK market. Also if you look on the Grabbit board, there's a current (?) thread about great-value deals on Tesco wine.

Also depends on how people will be getting to you. For example, if they are all couples chances are one of them will be driving and so won't be able to drink alcohol. So make sure you have some soft drinks too.
Don't know if it would be worth checking if you can return items if unused & unopened.
Also....don't forget to have plenty of glasses .... you don't want to be washing up all night.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
Try talking to your local offy about sale or return, loan of glasses and they might have a good idea of how much booze you will need and what selection and also mixers and non-alcoholic.0

Most of the supermarkets do sale or return and free glass 'hire' too. I had my wedding plonk and glasses from Sainsburys and they were great. Didn't mind that I had no idea and the wine person helped me estimate too.
EnjoySo many glitches, so little time...0 -
I know my local tesco (it's one of the huge ones) definately does sale or return, and I know my local morrisons (normal size) does sale or return too....
Failing that, Victoria Wine/Threshers/Drinks Cabin will do sale or return and do free glass hire - they can often have better deals than the supermarkets on cases of lager/bitter etc.0 -
It's the OH's 40th a week monday, need to get her something from our 14 month old boy. Doesn't have to be expensive, just something he can hand to her & get all tearful when she opens it.
TIA

What about a little photo of baby in a pretty little frame. You can't have enough special photos of your little ones!0

Have you thought about maybe buying her a mug with the baby printed on it or a mouse mat (you can get these from photobox or simular)0
