Cut cold calls to businesses - hurrah!

My thanks to DigitalDave for alerting me in another thread to an improvement to the Telephone Preference Service - TPS.
Until last Friday, Limited Companies (Including organisations such as Hospitals, Schools, Government Departments and other Corporate subscribers) and PLCs could not register their phone numbers with the TPS - but now we can!
Follow this link to register;
http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/[/quote]
Since I have been driven almost to distraction by people trying to sell me cheaper phone calls (when we don't have BT lines so their offers don't apply to us) and cheaper gas and electricity (when I had just used https://www.lsiutilitybroker.co.uk to find the best deal) I am VERY PLEASED to be able to filter out these time-wasters!
DigitalDave enjoys giving them a choice between being reported to the TPS for phoning him or paying his business £100 - and so shall I! ;D

Signing up to the TPS (I'm a sole trader) cut the number of cold calls by at least half.
Tired of telling people I don't have a landline so can't save money on calls using one!0 -

Tell them you've gone bankrupt / into receivership. They cant get off the line quick enough0 -
We have had our number range registered as a PLC for years now, cuts out 100's of calls.Kind Regards

I suspect he spammed and his post was deleted, but no bad thing to have this brought back on top for a while!adr0ck wrote:whos erick????
I do still get calls, but I can get rid of them faster if I say "Are you aware this number is registered with the TPS NOT to receive sales calls?" I am waiting to find out why the local football club wants to talk to my boss, I said it wasn't worth ringing back, and was asked why, I said I assume you're trying to sell advertising in your programme, and the person calling me denied it. But I didn't believe them ...adr0ck wrote:please note ive found that this TPS thing to be .....how do i put it.....useless!!!!!!!

i'll try that
a lot of the calls we get are americans trying to sell us shares
or BT trying to sell us their call packages....yes BT...and were registered with the TPS0 -
Next time bt rings you, say your registered with TPS and you would like to be removed from there list, if they do not do this then fill in tps complaint form.Kind Regards
Bill0 -
With BT you probably agreed to receive marketing years ago in the acres of small print so this is an issue to take up with BT rather than TPS. I think TPS only applies to calls originating in the UK a lot of junk calls are now international. Personally I have found that TPS and the other services like FPS and MPS have made quite a difference.0
