    very interesting however i had a tmobile payg sim and transffered it to orange which the site hasnt picked up on :(

    As the OP states "if it has not been ported" and as the site itself says "The results that are displayed show the original network that number was registered to. (Results for people who have changed network providers but kept their old mobile number will be incorrect)."

    It shows up my virgin as being Tmobile

    Wonder if it has this problem with all virtual networks

    probably will be due to the virtuals, the numbers will have been allocated to the 4 'allowed' networks in the first instance, just so happens that T-Mobile will then have released that set of numbers to be used as a 'virtual' by Virgin say.

    It shows up EasyMobile as T Mobile as well. But Wo-Betide explains the reason for this.

    No. Afraid not.
    And why the heck would you need to know that? The only point knowing the network is that it would possibly cost different amounts to phone different networks. Contract or PAYG makes no difference.
