No, this isn't usual. He needs to refund through paypal, don't accept anything else (unless it's cash!
) My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that a private individual who wants your card details for no good reason isn't out to scam you. Because they are!
I signed up with an employment agency once, the recruitment woman brought all the paperwork through from another room except the bank details form. Then said 'Oh, rather than trek all the way back for the form, just give me your card and I'll go and fill the details in myself!' (Yes, trekking 'all the way back' to do it!)
When I said I had my acc no and sort code written down all ready for her, no need to give her my card, the 'trek' mysteriously stopped being an obstacle and she just went and got the form.
Be careful out there, especially signing up to Leeds employment agencies...0 -
Yeah, and we had a meal out recently, the hostess said 'oh, the card machine isn't working, give me your card and I'll go and do it manually' - i.e. out of our sight. when i insisted on accompanying her on that trek, she had a face like thunder for the rest of the evening...
Funny how offended people can get at normal prudent financial practice...0 -
