Cleaning jewellery?

Options
My wedding ring is set with small stones, and the inside therefore is not completely flat(if you see what i mean). It is causing an allergic reaction to my skin,I can only think that soap or cleaning products are getting lodged in the holes. How do i clean it? I have got sensative skin and can only wear certain metals too.

    Tooth brush and clean water?

    Wear rubber gloves when cleaning?

Don't wear the ring while cleaning?

Ask a jeweller to seal the spaces that are troubling you?

  • Might be worth soaking the ring in warm water, might dislodge anything cleaning/chemical-ish thats got itself into any small gaps

I bought an ultra sonic jewellery cleaner a couple of years ago and my rings, necklaces etc look like new every time I use it. My daughters and my Mum all bring their stuff to me to be cleaned - it was well worth what I paid for it (around a tenner I think).

It uses plain water with just one drop of Fairy liquid (or other washing up liquid). When I take the jewellery out, I rinse under the tap and dry with a microfibre cloth.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • I always clean my jewellery by using soda crystals,

Fill a pot with warm water, pace some foil in the bottom, sprinkle over some soda crystals, then place your jewellery in - on top of the foil. Leave it for a few minutes, you may need to agitate the pot a bit, take it out and rinse well under running water.

Mine normally comes out like new :D

This does work really well but be careful doing it with jewellery with stones set in it as some stones react badly to it (turquiose for example). Try googling it first to check if you do decide to use it.

This method works for me! Though I usually add a bit of washing-up liquid and leave to soak overnight. It's amazing (and a little disturbing) to see the amount of gunge that comes out. Works with earrings, too.
