Anyone know of UK Upgrades in Preston?

18 months ago, I spoke to these people (thinking I was speaking to Orange) and upgraded my phone. They put me on the Dolphin plan.

Today I rang Orange to find out exactly when the contract expires, and they tell me that it expires on 8th August  . Apparently, when UK Upgrades upgraded me onto the Dolphin plan (which was an 18 months promo, I've just been told by Orange), I agreed to a 24 month contract.

Well it was a long time ago, and whilst I can't say for sure that I didn't agree to this, I am 99.9% sure that I would not have agreed to a 24 month contract.

Orange have told me that I will have to contact the third party agents and get them to confirm to Orange that it was an 18, not 24 month, contract before Orange can consider releasing me. They gave me a number for the company, which was unobtainable when I called it.

They have now given me their postal address, and told me to contact them via post. I also now have Orange's correspondence address, so I will contact them too.

Does anyone know if I can do anything at all if UK Upgrades do not confirm it's not a 24 month contract? Of course, I've signed nothing to that effect, but neither have I saved any of the paperwork that they sent me with the phone.

My husband's contract, which was taken out on the same day was done via Orange (we were passing the phone across the table to each other, which is why I thought I was dealing with Orange too - not sure at all how UK Upgrades got involved) expires tomorrow, and we want to change to the 3 network.

Am I really stuck with Orange for another six months??

Personally I think it's a bit rich of Orange to expect ME to go tracking down THEIR third party agents, who *I* didn't contact, and to whom Orange, presumably, have passed my details.
