The issue of made in spain MAY BE RIGHT FOR THE ODD ITEM BUT YOU CANT SELL CLOTHES THAT CHEAP WITH OUT IT BEING BOUGHT FROM LESS THAN ETHICAL SOURCES ASDA IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE WITH THE CLOTHS THEY SELL TWO SHIRTS FOR £5 , SO HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK THEY ARE MAKING THESE ITEMS FOR IF THEY CAN BE FLOGGED FOR THAT ???? IT MAT SAY SPAIN WITH REGARDS TO PRIMARK WAS THET JUST THE LABEL.

So if it say "Made in Spain, its not? DONT SHOUT
  • I supose this is what you get from a firm which buys from 3rd world child sweat shops ,How ever BLACKS and Milletts do some good quality sweat shirts .

Nike uses third world sweat shops. Gap uses third world sweat shops. Anything made in china is made in a third world sweat shop. I bet almost everything in your house was made in a third world sweat shop. I bet Millets and Blacks sells sweatshirts made in third world sweat shops.

Being made in Spain doesn't mean anything. I'm guessing the idea is that because it says Spain means they can't use extremely cheap labor, which they do.

How do you know they didn't just show you what they wanted you to see on your visit? What actions are you taking to guarantee that the stuff you sell is ethically sourced? While you might be able to say that the conditions you saw people working in was acceptable how do you guarantee the conditions of the farmers and those producing the materials or even building the factories or those working on the transport ships? How do you know they are not being exploited? How do you know they are being paid a 'decent wage' or the make up of that wage? Also what gives you the right to determine it is 'decent' and not exploitative?

There is no way that any company (or individual) can guarantee all the above. What they can put in place is a set of standards, procedures and checks that they can measure against ... they can never 'guarantee' them though. Third world factories have a habit of showing you what they want you to see (I have been there)... it is when you scrape away the 'icing' that you see the real coditions .. to do that you need to follow the entire supply chain.

For many years now it has not been the cost of material that has dictated the price of clothing it has been the cost of labour in assembly. That is why the UK is finding it harder to compete .. that is why there are still back street sweat shops in the UK.

So we dont buy any cheap goods-result poor people are even poorer as theve then got no job.
  • And just because some shops charge more does not mean they have not bought them from the same places as the cheap shops do.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • never said that , but the chances are the ones giving them away fro quids is the one with very low standards , as with food cheap means some thing or one is suffering for people to have dirt cheap
