EGG Credit Cards

  • I was one of the money who got the letter today - how nice of them.

As for 'good' customers getting poor treatment with credit cards recently, my Mum had her Halifax card cancelled because she pays off her balance every month, they've cancelled her card. That'll teach her to be so conscientious with money!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • I'm an Egg customer, I transferred a balance in December, no letter yet....as it seems they are keeping the terms for existing balances, I will USE them as long as I have 0% then move it.
I don't actually use the card, it's for a balance transfer only.

I'd love not to have a credit card & I'm working on it, I don't use any of them for spends just 0% I don't buy anything on credit anymore I'm no longer 2,000 overdrawn, the only alternative would be consolidation & that's a bad idea & more expensive, so at the moment I need these guys:sad:
Hoping though at the end of my 0% with Lloyds that someone else will take me on or I'm in big poop:o
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I am no expert, but I get the feeling with the Egg thing, the credit crunch, the current economic climate, and a large media focus on consumer debt, that we can expect to see very few good deals on credit cards in the next few years.

Yes looks like credit cards are becomig a thing of the past. But what will be the consequences of that? There are a lot of "purchases" that require credit cards swiping like hotels and car hire companies do. There are going to be consequences. others will follow suit.

So glad I started my DFW journey before all this, long way to go but at least it isn't such a shock to the system not being able to add more to my CC debts.

No letters for us so far (we've got 2: 3k and 2k approx on 0% until autumn), but it will be interesting to see if they try and close us down when they realise that they're not going to make a lot of money from us as we've no intention whatsoever of using the cards apart from paying off those transfers!

Me too, except that no credit card = no hotel room or car hire, for some reason car hire firms wont accept Debit cards. I would find it difficult when on my work travels to pitch a tent!!

Why my dad spent his entire working life without one, my granfather didn't have credit ever and they never struggled. We've had credit cards and we are drowning in debt.
