Hi ,
does anybody know how to use a pay-as-you-go mobile phone on Jersey ? We have both Orange and Virgin tri-band phones yet the Jersey Tourist Board et al state that pay-as-you-go don't work there , without explaining why. If this is so any ideas ?
Thanks,
John ( a newbie)

    Hi,
Im afraid you have posted this on the wrong board, should really put it in the mobile phones board, under telephones. I can't move this, a mod can though, so you will have to wait until someone can. Welcome to MSE though!

I've notified the BG's for this board, they'll be along shortly to move it to the right place.

Mobile phone users from the UK can use a regular contract phone whilst staying in Jersey. However, if they are prepaid (pay as you go), they will not be able to use the Jersey network unless they contact their network providers before arriving in the island

Taken from here so perhaps if you contacted your network provider they could help as suggested above? Good luck! :)

The Channel Islands have there own mobile networks, and are considered to be abroad by the UK,s Network Operators. You can use UK PAYG phones there but you have to have your intl bar lifted by your operator before you go.Beware its an expensive business.EG Virgin charge 65p a min to make a call, and 40p a min to recieve one.Sending a text to the UK costs 35p.
