Anyone know how the new signatures actually work or successfully revised one?

Be interesting if they do return it to as it was even if it breaks the new rules.

My bet is you will never get an explanation, I know I never when they deleted mine and left a message for everyone to see saying I had a live link.

And as many here know I keep reminding them, would have been better for everyone if the person who did it had explained at the time.

or so I thought as well...but now I have to do my sig manually as part of my posts as someone has deleted my actual sig.

That is what I am going to do if they delete mine, I hope you have a macro set up to make it easy. I know I will.

Well, we shall wait and watch. It will also be interesting to see if any of the other complaints are taken on board.

Hmmm... so all those other people with blue text and big fat sigs still have them...but mine's been individually deleted?

    Funny that.

Ummm, new rule could back fire if many start doing it.

    See my post here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=706045&page=2&highlight=signatures

    and #28 in same thread.

    I seen it coming.
On a serious note I do understand why Martin has put the new rules in, but looking at Jacks, yours, ZTD sigs just in this post, I feel they are acceptable and not intrusive to the thread. Yes there are some out there that fill half a page which I think are excessive and the rules will hopefully weedle them out, but for me part of reading a thread is also reading the sigs to see what types of people/personalites are on here. There are some v funny ones out there! And I have also been complimented on mine too in the past :o

We all do and most will have no problem with the rules, I know I don't but if my sig got deleted again I can not restore it like last time.

The only part that breaks the rules is size 4 TESCO and everything else is OK.

The second line of text need not be there if the FT team knew and checked the rules before deleting signatures. It's only function is to tell them blue text does not have to be a live link.

People are complaining because they don't like people in debt. I'm sure a lot of people have seen the attitude. People on benefit get some of it as well. The easiest way to make trouble is to complain about the sigs, as DFW'ers use them so much.

The operators of this board have created a rod for their own backs by not using their own judgement, and thereby pandering to the complainants. Who then continue to complain because it works in causing trouble. They are now trying to impose a technical solution on a non-technical problem. That's not to say there are not technical problems - but they're not being tackled either.

You can choose to not see signatures, and I believe people who have a problem where nobody else does should have that ability chosen for them.

Tip top as usual. Could not have put it better myself. Well done that man :T:T:T

well this obviously isnt going anywhere so i guess this is where i leave you too it? i refuse to be the person you complain to just because i see no 'problem' with this.

Well PAP as you're leaving us (or more precisely 'me' I assume) to it I guess you won't see this but I'm sorry that you saw my post that way. I certainly wasn't complaining to you, I'm intelligent enough to realise it's nothing to do with you (besides, I don't see a problem with the signature rules either). I was simply responding to your post with my own point of view, in what I thought was a perfectly polite manner. I thought that was one of the purposes of a discussion forum?

I knew this would turn into a debate about the rights and wrongs, which wasn't the intention of my original post, but was probably inevitable!

All I want is to have a signature that I can use to keep track of things, whatever format it is in! My only complaint with all of this is that the rules don't seem to be clear, or the new system (the 5 line business) doesn't seem to be applying them. Would love some clarification from above about it.

This site is free for all of us, and it has genuinely turned my life around (cheesy cliche, I know, but absolutely true), so if they say no signatures, I'm not going to argue with them, as it really is a small thing in the scheme of things. (But it would be nice to be able to have one again, trivial or not! :D )

By the way, I nearly wet myself when I saw this:

Well, just to make a mockery of it - this is a valid signature.

    Looking good?

You could make a fortune from custom designing those ZTD! Any ideas of something suitably austentacious for a pregnant panda?!

Sorry Sarah, but I'm glad it isn't just me!!!

Was just saying elsewhere that I wasted 3 hours of my life last night trying to make it work - eventually gave up completely. I'm sure they'll fix it soon...won't they?!
  • Well I got mine onto 4 lines... I must not be priviliged enough for 5 lines!
    Its not as pretty tho!
