Anyone know how the new signatures actually work or successfully revised one?

Think I've sussed the 5 lines problem -

1. There is now an upper limit of 5 lines per signature (i.e. every time you press return).

No it isn't (not for me anyway) - it's the number of lines used within the Edit box you enter your message in - you're only allowed 5 lines in that box irrespective of whether you hit the return key or not. By removing the return in my sig and replacing it with a space I actually made it go over the 5 lines with text wrapping, hence the error.

Jacks - I had the same problem - I didn't realise you couldn't have links in your sig (I'd linked in my debt diary on here) when I first joined, so had my sig wiped and no-one told me they had done it either. It's no reason to leave though :sad:

I'm not getting that - some of the wacky signatures do wrap in the text box. What browser are you using - have you tried a different one?

Sometimes the forum team suffer from "Blue text Tourettes" in that they swear and compusively wipe a sig with blue text in it. No link required...

No there were no links in it.


I had protested about the new sig rules though, and the dissent was evidently not appreciated.


The rules were not very clear but I thought the old sigs would stand until we tried to update them.


Unless of course you disagree with the new rules and express your feelings on the matter - then your sig will be deleted summarily it seems.

The sig that they deleted is at the bottom of this post.


Having done my degree ijn politics I thought they might delete it when I said I didn't plan to change it. So I made a back up.

Firefox - I started re-doing my sig from scratch aswell and as soon as it wrapped over to a 6th line on the edit box it started erroring about line count. So I went back to my orig sig - Because my top line is centred when I removed the return character and added a space it added on extra line on screen (just unlucky) I took the centring off and made the top line left-justified which got rid of the extra line - no line error but now I'm using too many characters!!! :rolleyes:

I was also just wondering if it was the browser and playing around with IE atm which seems to be working better... (hopefully haven't spoken too soon)

You'd think seeing as I work in IT for a living I'd know what I'm doing.... :rolleyes: and I would never prefer/recommend a Microsoft product either....:D

I didn't have any links though hon - they're just being mean.

And I haven't gone yet. I've got to change my email to a junk one so I no longer get the thread reminders / weekly email, make something else my home page and then log out.

It's funny that mine is deleted on the day that I disagree with their new policy though...

Jacks - I don't think your sig was removed because of the changes - if it had a whole load of others (including me) wouldn't have a sig right now!!! Suspect the "Blue text Tourettes" ZTD mentioned has been around again...
