please could you give the web address of costo, and what is it anyway? thanks  ]
  • I'd be interested to hear what others do about contact lens solutions and where to buy them from.

Personally I buy my lenses (monthly disposables) from the optician for £11 per month which includes a quarterly lens check. I know this isn't the cheapest option but at least it means I get regular checks of my eyes and with putting bits of plastic in them I take the view that you can't be too careful ...

For solutions I dallied with most of the mail order companies and have now settled on buying my solutions from Tesco or Sainsbury. They're ~ £5 for a month's solution vs £10-15 mailorder. I also only actually change the lens solution every 2 days  (probably shouldn't do that I know).

    What do others do ?

I have been using https://www.secondsightonline.co.uk for the past few years. They currently have 1 day acuvue by Johnson & Johnson at £85 for 3 months supply.
You have to order by fax or phone.

Geoffrey - I was told to do exactly that by my optician over 20 years ago - chaging the solution every 3 days was the recommendation - and I've been doing it ever since, without hardly a hint of trouble - not attributable to that - over the 20 years+ test period. Except, it often runs to 4 or 5 days in practice, in my case. It saves a fortune, notwithstanding that my eyes are as precious to me as anyone else's are to them.

Again, I have to say I absolutely don't recommend that anyone else follows suit.

    Regards

who is the best supplier for gas permiable contact lens
  • I get my monthly disposable contacts from Specsavers at £8 per month. It has just recently been reduced from £10 and includes all solutions and aftercare. Is this not as cheap as the mail order companies?
  • Daily disposables are 10 per month at Specsavers (3 months min).

24hr ones are being promoted too

To answer Tobycat "Is this not as cheap as the mail order companies?"

I'd say "Yes, even cheaper!". I would also add "catch it while you can". ;)

The only ones I can find on Specsavers at £10/month are the monthlies. Can you point me towards any daily disposables that are less than £20/month?

I still think nothing beats my Dutch deal!

  • i have been with my opticians for years (specsavers)- . I used to wear monthly (proclear) lenses and paid only £10/month with solutions and check ups. I have just changed to focus daillies and they charge 22/month and thats with check ups and get my specs at half price - only cost me £37 !
