Storage Heaters

Hi
Could some nice person please explain storage heaters to me. I haven't got a clue how they work, how much they cost, who can fit them etc. Any advice would be welcome.

There are a few links on the page that should be able to give you more information on storage heaters and how they work. As for fitting storage heaters, any qualified electrician should be able to do this for you. :j

Electric storage heater systems are relatively cheap to buy and install and maintain, some thousands cheaper than gas central heating. The heaters take in cheap electricity at night and release the heat slowly during the day, sometimes needing a boost in late afternoon (which would be at the daytime ( and more expensive) rate)
This system is not very good for old draughty houses but ideal for well insulated properties such as flats and middle terrace. You can also take these heaters when you move.
Given the right sort of home, and the cost of borrowing /loss of interest on the money , to install gas heating, and the maintenance cost of servicing IN THE LONG TERM, storage heaters are a good bet.
Especially when supplemented by a woodburner using free wood.
