I am a Bricklayer the average price for a proper repointing job is about £20 m2.If it is about 3 days work you are getting it cheap, just make sure its done correctly raked out ,brushed out and damped down before pointing. Also H&S regs mean that it has to be done from a scaffold not a ladder, like we used to,to save a few quid :D

Well its all been done now and very neat it is too, the guy had his own mini scaffold tower so i guess that made it cheaper, he was actually here all week although arriving mid day ish so i guess it was around 3 days in all.

Only negatives was the replacement brick is more orange than red and stands out a bit, i guess it will age but perhaps i should have sourced my own. Also he was expecting a tip which was a bit embarassing as it really didnt even cross my mind that youd tip for this sort of thing. Just had the exact money on me so was a slightly arkward moment. Anyway the jobs good and id use him again.
  • A tip!? Where was he from, New York!? :/

It looked pretty deep, he did the grinding out and raking out on the friday then didnt come back to start pointing until the next Tuesday, the house had a rather toothless look over the weekend, not sure id want it any deeper as id be concerned the bricks wouold become loose!

It still looks neat now several weeks later, I guess I should have waited until the warmer weather but there was no frosts whilst the pointing was being done.
Bucket pointing is about £20 per sq mtr
Weather pointing is about £30 per sq mtr

You need to ensure that the "grinding out" is actually done to a reasonable depth.
Otherwise your repointing will only be "skin deep" and you will be able to pull it off rather easily. The life span will be minimal.
If it is too cold, the water in the cement will freeze, this will lead to it expanding, cracking and doing no good what so ever!
You also need to make sure the repointing isn't looking "yellow", this is because the mix is not strong enough.

(i own "repoint n seal" and do this everyday-everyone hates it!!)
