If you own a video player it also has a tuner, it can get BBC then you need a licence

Nope. You only need a license if you use it for watching or recording TV. If you let them in to check and there's an aerial plugged into it, it'll look mightily suspicious, but you ONLY need a license if you watch or record TV as it's being broadcast.
