Cpu is around 42C idle, and 47C at load.
    Case/System temp is around 35C.

My readings may not be totally accurate though, probably even less. It's a known fault with my motherboard (MSI K8N Neo2).

I've got the ThermalAlright Cpu cooler though, which is regarded as the best cooler on the market at the moment. And it's on an AMD64 which run nice and cool compared with the lastest Pentiums.

Lian Li PC-60, 3x 80mm fans (at reduced voltage, 5v). My room too is quite warm, not much air flow but the computer seems to be doing fine.

I've seen mine jump up lately. Used to idle at around 38C CPU 34C MOBO.

Lately, with the side on its been as high as 46C 38C Idle.

So for today I've had the side off and the temps are down a bit.

Like wolfman, I've got a Lian Li PC-60, but with 4 case fans (2 front, 1 top, 1 back) and a Coolermaster Heatsink/Fan with some Arctic Silver 3 on my CPU.

Not that bothered though as long as it stays under 50C
    Boo!
  • My cpu is a Athlon 64 3800+ and that is warm anyway, in winter it never moves above 35 unless i play a game like battlefiled.
I have one 80mm fan at the top of the case
One 80 mm at the side
one 120 mm fan at the front
one 120mm fan at the back
Plenty of circulation but the cpu seems to be copeing.
I built a system for my brother a 3200 Athlon 64 and that runs at 33 all the time.

I build computers for people and they always sem to run better than my own lol.

You should be able to see them in the hardware monitor in the BIOS, or you can install some temperature monitoring software. This sometimes comes with the motherboard, or you can download other equivalents, such as SpeedFan or Motherboard Monitor.

Don't know what the temperature is but it's too high. My PC protests and turns itself off after around an hour. I know it's the temperature doing it as if I stick a fan next to it, it runs fine all day. Only problem is that I could do with having the fan in another room at the moment as it's too damn hot everywhere.

Any ideas on a permanent solution to the problem? I have 2 fans in the PC case already but it's obviously not coping. HELP.

BTW - I'm a dunce when it comes to techie stuff so don't ask me anything too technical. I can use the thing like a pro, but open it up and I'm lost.

I have been using this utility http://www.cpuid.org/pcw.php called PCWizard. From the authors of CPU-Z. I too have A Lian Li PC-60. CPU temp 35.5 HDtemps 30 deg C (Athlon XP-M @ 133FSB x 10). The CPU will go up to 48 dec C in these conditions when @ 200x12 and Xvid encoding. The cooler is a quiet but antiquated Zalman CPNS 6000 Cu.

A processor needs to be kept cool to work properly.
A CPU will get hot and slow itself down by as much as 75% to keep cool.
It throttles back on performance so that’s why your computer works better in winter than in summer.

If you’re CPU is running too hot then think about having a better cooler installed.
If it’s running cool? It will perform better.

You need to review a few coolers on the net or ask what people use here!
Then it’s a case of getting a pc company to fit the cooler for you.
Some might charge between £40-£60 and less if you buy the cooler from them.
Or you could take the sides off and get a house fan to blow cold air into the computer?
I’ve done that in the past and it works.

...or invest in a better case. A cpu cooler can only do so much in the ambient/case temps are high. A case that has decent airflow will help reduce the temp of the cpu and other components.

If you're looking for the best (or one of) cpu coolers, look up the ThermAlright XP-90 or XP-120. It's a little pricey but definitely will keep temps down.

My Athlon 2000 normally runs at 50C but is presently 57C. Is this too hot? It seems more than the others above but I've not noticed any problems.
