Just last week I purchased an Easiyo and have made drinking yoghurt using their sachets twice very successfully. It isn't terribly expensive, but I was wondering if anyone has discovered how to make this with regular yoghurt as a starter instead?
Thanks!0 -
Hi,
There are quite a few threads on yoghurt, apart from this one, but I've linked the two that I think will help you the most. Good luck

Thanks very much for that quick reply, Squeaky. I'd already had a little browse and found the recipe for making regular yoghurt. The one that I'm really after (if possible) is for drinking yoghurt. Do you know if there have been any threads about that?
Thank you again!0 -
To make drinking yog I use this Madhur Jaffrey recipe for Lassi.
Blend for 3 seconds 4fl oz plain yog with 12fl oz ice-cold water. Add any sweetener, flavourings or salt ( for lassi) you want in there first. You can refigerate it for a few hours but need to stir it before using.
I change the amount of water to suit the other ingredients. I have also found it fine to do the diluting with milk too. Add less liquid if you like it thicker.
Hope this helps!0 -

Not that I recall, though if somebody has posted such a recipe I'm sure they'll be glad to point you to itHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thanks for the drinking yoghurt instructions!
I've actually just had a couple of Easiyo disasters. Their drinking yoghurt sachets were very nice, so I tried the Greek yoghurt....but something went wrong. I followed the instructions exactly as directed, but ended up with a horrible curdled result. Could it be due to the hot Australian climate? I reduced the boiling water by about 1/2 cm the second time I tried, but this didn't help. Should I have refrigerated the water before use? Our tap water isn't particularly cold. Any ideas?
Hmmm...I thought this method was supposed to be foolproof. I've wasted two sachets now... :mad:0 -
I bought an easiyo the other week and have made one sachet lot of yoghurt which I thought was lovely. The kids liked it too but OH thought it wasn't quite right. i think it's a bit mild, so next time I may leave it in the maker for an hour or 2 longer.
Anyway, my OH likes drinking yoghurt so I just followed the above instructions to try some. I used milk and it seemed a bit too runny, so I added another dollop of yoghurt (technical term) and gave it to OH for a taste est and he loved it. Tried it myself and couldn't stand it!! Each to their own!
Anyway, am experimenting tonight to see if I can make yoghurt using the easiyo stuff as a starter and UHT milk. Will see how it looks in the morning.Debts - [STRIKE]£9925.64[/STRIKE] £8841.88 :T Aiming to get below £9k by the end of Oct.:D:D November aim - sub £7.5k!

well I have some yogurt hopefully forming in my easio, although have used uht and a bio starter so hoping it will be good when I get to it in the morning.
This is the 1st time so wish me luck. Will now have to pop into julian graves on monday and see if it is all still half price, was going to pop into town this morning, but didn't get the chance  typical I always miss the bargains.
I'll let you know how my yog turns out in the morn.

Hi, sorry to hear about your problems. If I recall, the instructions suggest reducing the level of boiling water by about 1cm in hot climates - so might be worth putting a bit less in. Maybe also reducing the time might help too?
To avoid sachet wastage, you could try using UHT milk with a "starter" from one of your successful batches - if necessary, the UHT could be out of the fridge, which would slow things down significantly, I would have thought.
Best of luck,
