I replaced my easiyo yogurt maker recently as they were half price in Julian Graves. I dropped the last one then it didn't work so must have done something to the innards
I always use the Greek Yogurt mix especially for the easiyo -add 2 tablespoons of sugar and tap water and make sure you shake it well then perfect yogurt.

Just a thought - have you tried washing out the container (where the mix goes) really well with plenty of hot water and detergent.
I had problems with mine and a good hot wash sorted it out nicely. I guess there must have been some sort of contamination that was inhibiting the reaction.
Also maybe try leaving it in the airing cupboard or similar warm place, with the colder weather the water temp will be dropping quicker so the temperature won't be right for the yogurt to thicken.0 -
I think it just has to be the timing thing. My house is always warm - people say it makes them feel sick so its not the temperature being too cold.
I shall report back later on this evening when I get this new experiment out. Maybe trying to make my own isnt the way to go and i'll just have to carry on buying the expensive packets.0 -

I put the container in the dishwasher before every use. Its a mystery... im just not a yoghurter!
I'll go stand it next to a radiator now.. dont have an airing cupboard. Every little helps lol0 -
If you use shop bought yogurt to use as a starter then make sure that it says on the ingredients list "Contains Live cultures".
The statement on the front that it is live yogurt is not enough.
We use skimmed milk, one cup of skimmed milk powder and about two dessert spoons of of yogurt. (We buy a large carton of yogurt from Morrison's and freeze it into cubes).
Leave it over night in the kitchen. Never fails.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I use two tablespoonfuls of Total Greek Yoghurt and stir in full fat UHT WHICH MUST BE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. Fill up the thingy with boiling water when I make my tea to go up to bed - about 10.30, 1/4 to 11; when I come down to make tea in the morning about 7.15 it's fine, thick and yummy.
I don't add skimmed milk powder because I don't like the taste.
This method works 9 times out of 10 and then you suddenly have one where it's really runny. No idea why. I've always thought it was something to do with the age of the original yoghurt starter - the fresher the better.
Hope it all works out for you!0 -
My goodness i'd never get away with not adding dried milk to thicken it - its like water already!
I'm sure this lot will work as its just a packet easiyo and they are fail safe. Its just when I buy my own yoghurts to use that it goes wrong.
Great to hear of all the success stories... i'd have given up way before now if it wasnt for this site!:beer:0 -
Hi Angelina M
I had the same problem until recently but my last batch was lovely. I got the yoghurt saying contains live cultures (Yeo valley I think), added 4 tablwspoons of the Marvel skimmed milk and topped up with the lidl uht skimmed milk. The next day it was very mild but I like it really thick and creamy so I put it into muslin cloth and sieve and strained it. It is gorgeous!!
The remaining strained liquid can be used to make scones
Hope this helps

Well this one was a success... not surprising as I used the proper packet stuff.
I will get some yeo valley and try adding more dried milk to see if it works, although im assuming that now I will be able to use this as a starter?0 -
I'm sure I read you can leave it for up to 12 hours before you refrigerate it, so it's fine to leave it for longer, mine is never ready after 6 hours, usually 8 or 9. This is with Easi-Yo sachets or UHT milk, Yeo Valley and a little bit of skimmed milk powder.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
one life, live it!0
