How does photgraphic evidence prove anything? you might have just borrowed it
But it's not intended as 'proof' in isolation.
If you have photos with your name on a piece of paper next to the item, or better with yourself in the photo, plus credit card statements, receipts etc it all helps to build up a stronger case.
Although perversely 'too much' documentation can also sometimes look suspect.0 -

True, but most people aren't going to kit out their whole home just for photos. Also, there are generally family pics with the items in the background, so if you have a close up you can see it better, see the makes, condition etc.
A lot of what I have has been presents over the years so I won't have receipts for them. I'm a "home buddy" so instead of asking for clothes or jewellery for xmas and birthdays, I would ask for some more dinner service or a particular ornament.
If you are determined to do/try an insurance scam, you will do/try it. I'm an honest person who has made 1 claim in 26 years, so for me it's worth it to know that I can easily show what was in my house. I basically insure against the "total loss in a house fire" situation - and yes, i do know people who have been through that. My video will show the condition of my items as well as what's in my house. Also, I have friends and neighbours who can corroborate what I would say. An investigator could always speak to them.
It's just a suggestion that would help, IMO0 -
I though reducing the claim value by 50% was a typical insurer swindle. There was CCTV of the trailer being stolen, but the claimant had used the word 'driveway' rather than 'parking area' on his claim.0

We are with Churchill Insurance. When we had a burglary about 2 years ago I immediateley phoned the Police. About 4 officers arrived and were brilliant. We were given the crime no. I phoned the insurers and within 24 hours the claim was agreed. Also we had not kept receipts but accepted what we said. We claimed for no more and no less.0

How does having a box prove anything, the insurance guy himself said "you can get boxes from friends " how many people especially in flat can keep all the old boxes? also the recipts themselve may be stolen/burnt, who keeps recipts for years on end, when you take out insurance it dosent say "Keep all recipts or els we wont pay out"
No - but most state you must be able to substantiate your losses. The companies i have worked for so long as some Proof was provided of some items we would generally progress the claim unless any concerns - ie purchase something a year ago its likely you should have the receipt although if 20 years old less likely. Additionally we have generally accepted boxes, manuals as proof0 -
